Sometimes the well runs dry it might as well be a pit in the Sahara desert
Sometimes the weight is just so Atlas’s knees buckle
Sometimes the pain is just too deep a cut from a thousand sharp blades pales in comparison
Sometimes the thoughts are so loud the world trembles from their echo
Sometimes the tears don’t stop flowing and the river Nile could overflow from them

You don’t want to be this
You don’t intend to be what you have become
You had no intention of going on as you were
You keep wanting to change your outcome
You have no desire to live a life so blase

But the pain is so ingrained in you
The misery has seeped into your blood vessels
The darkness has taken over your mind
It’s so easy for you now
You find yourself fighting for this

Like everything else, your world ripples
You affect the lives near you
You smile and laugh but they sense the truth
You get ambivalent
And when the pain comes, you hold it in your embrace

Still in the dark, the thoughts won’t be silenced
The pain is visceral
The weight is overwhelming
The tears are hot on your face
Sleep, when it comes is just another prison

Trapped in between worlds
You hope for a sweet release
You contemplate salvation
You wish for redemption
You are so intertwined you can hardly see ahead

Only one thought keeps you going now
Only one idea has you push forward
If the well runs dry, you can dig another one
If the river overflows, you will fashion something anew
If it hurts too much, you can always find an escape

What is man but not pain?
What is woman without suffering?
What is humanity without frailties?
What is life without hardship?
Oh, what is this world without culmination?

The river will run dry
The weight will be too much to bear
The pain will come from deep within
The thoughts will be thunderous
The tears will never stop flowing

For what is man without pain?
What is woman without suffering?
What life has no hardship?
What is a world that will not end?
And what is humanity without frailty?
